Choosing the next place you would like to go for your annual vacation doesn’t have to be as difficult as some people make it. Yes, it’s true that there are a nearly infinite number of totally awesome travel destinations to choose from and it can be easy to get overwhelmed, but hopefully today I can persuade you to take a look at beautiful Lake Tahoe.
Now normally I don’t like to recommend the same old boring vacation spots that everybody goes to, and you may argue that Lake Tahoe fits into this category; but you’d be surprised. Before we get into that though, let’s talk a little bit about what Lake Tahoe is all about in case you’ve never heard about it.
So what is it? Well, basically it’s a breathtakingly beautiful Lake that’s surrounded by the high Sierra Mountains. It is located in the northern part of California, sort of on the Nevada border making many people think that it is in fact located in Nevada.
The best time of the year to go to Lake Tahoe depends on exactly what you’re going there to do. Through the months of January February and March you can expect to find amazing skiing, in fact I’d even categorize it as world-class skiing. June through September, however, have some of the best water sports in the world and world-class hiking as well.
So it really just depends on what you’re looking for, Winter Wonderland or Summer fun in the sun. Whichever you choose, Lake Tahoe won’t disappoint you.
While you’re there you can expect to find an Alpine resort area that is home to many different activities including skiing, hiking, sailing on the lake itself, as well as several casinos where you can try your luck and maybe strike it rich and win big!
Lake Tahoe is without a doubt one of the United States most beautiful destinations. It has almost 300 days of sunshine every single year which means you probably won’t get rained out like some other vacation destinations!
If you’re looking for skiing specifically then you’ll tend to focus on the north and south of the lake because that’s were most of the best resorts are located. The north side has some of the swankier neighborhoods but the south side is the most populated area and contains things like the casinos etc.
There’s not much to do on the East side because it’s mostly undeveloped but the West side is dotted with smaller hotels and more residential areas.
There really is something for everybody at Lake Tahoe. Whether you feel like roughing it with hiking, camping, skiing, or even snowmobiling; or you’re more interested in gourmet dining and being pampered in a world-class resort… you certainly won’t be disappointed with this amazing vacation spot.
