4×4 Self Drive Cairo To Cape Town Adventure

“Crossing the Nubian Desert for the first time was an unforgettable experience. Whenever I think back at those moments of climbing sand dunes, the wind blowing through my hair, sand in my ears and miles and miles of nothing; an involuntary smile firmly plants itself on my face” Deborah Thiele, Director, Africa Expedition Support

Africa Expedition Support has launched 2 unique products on the Africa adventure travel market. A Fully guided 16 week self drive 4×4 Africa Adventure tour from Cairo to Cape Town and 8 week Cape Town to Nairobi.

Africa Expedition Support provides the vehicles, equipment; organises the necessary paperwork and activities, border crossings, and lead vehicles with experienced crew (including a mechanic) to ensure you stay on track.

“There are many people out there who dream about an adventure such as crossing the entire continent of Africa from Cairo to Cape Town but soon realise the difficulties, risks and costs. Unfortunately for most it stays a dream. This is why we sat down with our most experienced crew and developed this product at an affordable price. Our research showed lack of information about the route, road conditions; places to stay, cost of buying and equipping a suitable vehicle; obtaining all the required paperwork was simply not financially viable for many adventurers. In addition, lack of mechanical know-how and confidence in maintaining and repairing the vehicle is an inhibiting factor. Our product takes away the downsides leaving the client with the only having to enjoy their Africa experience” explains Deborah Thiele, Director, Africa Expedition Support

The Cairo to Cape Town visits Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. While the shorter Cape Town to Nairobi tour visits South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.

These tours take in the most popular highlights ranging from the Pyramids in Egypt and Sudan; Lalibella in Ethiopia; to the most famous game parks in Africa including the Serengeti, Ngorogoro, Chobe and Etosha to name a few. There will also be an opportunity to trek Chimps in the wild in Uganda, snorkel with dolphins on Zanzibar, enjoy a wine tour in South Africa (cars stay at home that day!) and get off the beaten track and visit some lesser known but equally stunning locations.

Accommodation is a combination of camping, local hotels and the African bush. While camping the group will be treated to 3 meals a day prepared by an experienced safari cook. Prior to departure all drivers are given driving instructions and have a practice run in soft sand.
